Foundation for Landscape Studies
SITELINES
SiteLines was a biannual publication of the Foundation for Landscape Studies, a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission was “to foster an active understanding of place in human life.” The publication was a mixture of original articles on landscape history and design, biographies of important individuals in the field, book and exhibition reviews, and a calendar of events. It was one of numerous mission-related initiatives, which also included publishing books, giving grants to authors, conferring an annual book prize, hosting an annual fundraising event honoring important individuals for their contributions to the sites and the profession, sponsoring tours and events, a website and blog, and publishing of rare-books in an online page-turning format. We designed and produced the publication for 20 years, with the final issue published in 2020, at which point the organization became an entity within the University of Virginia’s Landscape Studies Initiative, a new program within the School of Architecture’s Center for Cultural Landscapes.
